NEWS RELEASE

INFOWAVE DEMONSTRATES WAP SUPPORT FOR MICROSOFT EXCHANGE V5.5 AND EXCHANGE
2000 SERVER
Infowave for Exchange to support WAP and Microsoft Microbrowser enabled
wireless phones and other devices

Atlanta, Georgia, October 5, 1999 - Infowave Software, Inc. (VSE: IWM)
demonstrated today, at the Microsoft Exchange Conference in Atlanta, its WAP
/ Microbrowser capabilities which connect wireless phones and other devices
to Microsoft Exchange Server. Infowave plans to include the capability in
the next version of Infowave for Exchange, due to ship at the same time as
the MS Exchange 2000 Server release. The new version of Infowave for
Exchange is designed to support both Exchange Version v5.5 and Exchange 2000
Server including mixed v5.5/ Exchange 2000 Server environments.

"Independent software vendors (ISVs) are an important part of Microsoft's
wireless Exchange strategy," says Dave Malcolm, group product manager for
Exchange Server at Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT). "Infowave has always been
a leader in providing wireless access to the Exchange information store and
we are pleased to see them taking the lead again in bringing this important
Exchange content to an exciting new generation of mobile devices."

The number of WAP / Microbrowser enabled devices is expected to explode in
the coming years. For example, handset manufacturers representing more than
75 percent of the world market are committed to shipping WAP-enabled
devices. It is estimated that there will be 10's of millions of
WAP-browser-enabled products in consumer hands by the end of 2000.

"We're focused on delivering the right information to the right device at
the right time," says Jim McIntosh, President and CEO of Infowave. "WAP and
the Microbrowser are all about mobile access to important content and there
is no content that's more important than the email, calendar, contacts, and
tasks in the Exchange message store. We're also very excited about Exchange
2000 Server and its potential to increase the adoption of wireless
technology. With its scalability improvements, Exchange Server 2000 will
help us put wireless access to Exchange into the hands of more and more
mobile workers."

Infowave will be demonstrating its WAP support at the Microsoft Exchange
Conference (booth #217) in Atlanta, October 4 to 7. Infowave is also the
title sponsor of the prestigious invitation only MEC dinner where Infowave
for Exchange will be demonstrated to over 350 of Microsoft's top Exchange
customers.

Version 4.0 of Infowave for Exchange with support for UP.Browser(tm)
microbrowsers from Phone.com(tm) (NASDAQ:PHCM) and Microsoft's Microbrowser
is scheduled to ship in the first half of 2000. Infowave for Exchange will
be available in two ways; enterprise customers will be able to purchase the
software directly or access it by subscribing to an Application Service
Provider (ASP) or Service Bureau that is using Infowave to wirelessly enable
their Microsoft Exchange offering.
