richard: This is the way I see it. Intel has been promising 840 chipset for workstations almost as long as 820 chipset for desktops. The chipset is code named Carmel. It requires WTX chassis. intel.com It seems that Supermicro after a long delay has samples of WTX chassis in Oct. and is shipping production units in Nov. supermicro.com I doubt Intel will strikeout with 840 unless it intentionally wants to end Rambus relationship. john PS Intel web site restored the majority of Rmnbus related links in web site search.
