The Romans did not have stirrups. One of their major agricultural problems was cause by the fact that the Horse collar had not been invented. Without it, you can't pull a plow. Kind of a "for want of a nail" problem.

The Motley Fool article today on the Gemstar/TV Guide merger was very positive. It is nice that we have some time to study the new company.
