Actually, there is a new program, health care for kids of poor and middle class families that can't afford it. This is the first new program I have heard of to do anything positive for kids whatsoever - in years. It must be federal, because we have it here, and I looked on the web and pulled this up for PA... looks like the same thing.

Although I am not a fan of large social programs in general, when it comes to kids I view things like this as a necessary investment...

Much of the health care mess has arisen since the advent of the social health care system in the 1960's. They've driven up the costs of health insurance as well as numerous legislative initiatives, such as community rating, mandated coverages, etc. If the government was really serious about coverage, they would've at least required the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and other cash benefits be used by recipients first on health care insurance before any other expenses. The Democrats plans basically conform to the Democrat Socialists ( dsusa.org ) which basically converts the medical payment system into another tax system. You should be ashamed of yourself trying to throw more people into the ranks of the medically uninsured. 87% of Americans are currently insured. That's almost 230 million. Go check the Census web site.
