News: Cablecom to Deploy Terayon's CherryPicker Digital Video System; Follows Success With Time Warner, Cox and Other Leading Operators

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 5, 1999--Cablecom, the largest cable television operator in Switzerland, is deploying the new CherryPicker(TM) 7000 video statistical re-multiplexer from Terayon Communication Systems, Inc. TERN . Cablecom will install the CherryPicker 7000 in the headend of its Zurich system, which serves approximately 1.5 million subscribers. It will be used to assemble a customized programming line-up using video content from a variety of sources, including satellite and terrestrial broadcasts.

Cablecom is a long time CherryPicker user, having deployed more than forty earlier models in its systems throughout Switzerland, which pass more than 1.5 million homes in total. CherryPicker is also in use by such leading cable operators as Time Warner, Charter, Cox, Adelphia, Cogeco and Chambers. Terayon acquired Imedia Corporation, the developer of CherryPicker, in September 1999 to complement its proven cable modem systems with the industry's leading digital video system.
