<<Micron Technology (MU:NYSE) posted a narrower-than-expected fourth-quarter loss. Micron said the loss was 7 cents a share including $600,000 from the issuance of unit stock, and an income tax benefit of $7.4 million. The 21-analyst estimate was for a loss of 18 cents a share. The year-ago loss was 43 cents a share, which also included extraordinary items.>>

$600,000 from the issuance of unit stock?

Fleck, those analysts on the CC showed the unbridled tenacity of Liberace...

...no, on second thought, make that Liberace's corpse.

The 3% sequential bit growth?

"Timing".

So MU is saying mid-teens on the last call.
They show up 3-months later w/ 3% and they're able to get away with explaining it as "timing".

And no one asked the obvious question:

"Well, what specifically caused your 'timing' to be so f****d up. Presumably, it wasn't someone filling in the wrong dates on their project planner, right? So what was it?..."

I also liked the part where Kip responded to one question on starts by saying that he'd clear it up "when we go through the models after the call."

Of course, that was right after dodging the question regarding costs by saying, "well, as you know, we don't give out specific cost info..."

So, Kip, what exactly would be in the "models" that you're spoonfeeding to these superstars?

You're absolutely right on the delay w/ the PR. I didn't see it on their site until around 5:45 p.m.

Good trading,

Tom
