I am glad to see he gets into semiotics, a sadly understudied subject. He gets a little over my head when he says, "A true symbol points to the heart of all being, not to an incident in the flow of becoming." I guess one has to read what was written in preceding pages to understand that.

I'm curious to know more about his thinking on symbols. Language is our greatest set of symbols. So many people sleep-walk their way through this life they don't stop to consider the impact language and other symbols have on them. Symbols are part and parcel of our perceiving and knowing. To our detriment, symbols that sustained us are now desiccated, and our new symbol-mongers are not serving us well.
