CGI continues technical education contract with 3Com CGI Group Inc GIB.A Shares issued 143,154,614 Oct 4 close $29.40 Tue 5 Oct 99 News Release Mr. Jean Brassard reports CGI has signed a continuation of its network technical training contract with 3Com Corporation (Nasdaq: COMS). Under the terms of the agreement, valued at as much as $6.5-million over the next two years, CGI will continue as 3Com's authorized North American training partner. "We are very pleased that 3Com has chosen us to continue as their partner for this strategic training project," said Jean Brassard, president and chief operating officer of CGI. "During the initial contract phase, CGI acquired an in-depth understanding of 3Com's training business. We will draw upon this knowledge in order to deliver a business solution that meets 3Com's long-term needs." 3Com's Arlene Levin, manager of the Training Partner Business Alliance, adds that: "The continuing positive relationship successfully supports our business model by enabling sales, educating customers and providing quality training. We look forward to CGI's increased role over the length of the contract." CGI estimates that over the two-year period, approximately 6,000 IT professionals will be trained on the sales, installation, implementation, development and maintenance of 3Com network solutions including LANs, WANs, VPN using hubs, switches, routers and related equipment. CGI will provide open-enrolment training as well as on-site company training in major North American cities from coast to coast. Students will include end users of 3Com technology and equipment as well as 3Com employees, distributors and resellers. CGI's state-of-the-art courses will use 3Com-certified instructors, current 3Com products, enhanced hands-on labs, fully equipped facilities and flexible availability.
