Steve, When consumers know about a impending price cut they tend to postpone purchasing in anticipation. Sharp marketing guys use the rebate with limited date restrictions as an incentive to push consumers into a buying decision. profit gets booked on Sale gets book. rebate gets charged as processed, which could be months later. Its a cheap way for a company to finance itself, overstate earnings, make it look beter.
