For over 40 years this has been one of the most rewarding stock market indicators and is a leading indicator. Buy signals are given when the percent reverses up from below 30% or penetrates a previous top. Sell signals are given when the percent reverses from above 70% and goes to 68% or less. A sell signal is also given if a previous bottom has been violated. When a sell signal is given, the Bullish Percent almost always drops to the 50% level or lower. Chartcraft expanded this concept to include approximately 43 broad industry groups covering over 150 industries. These charts are interpreted like the NYSE Bullish Percent. These charts are updated weekly and should provide guidance as to which broad industry groups should be bought and which should be sold. These sectors are listed below according to their risk status. A plus (+) after the percent means the last column of the chart is headed up, a minus sign (-) means it is headed down. An asterisk (*) by the bullish percent number means there was a change from the previous week while a pound sign (#) indicates a change in status from the previous week.
