Several years ago I toured a plane at NASA/Langley where they were experimenting with flying a plane without direct visual contact with the airfield. Instead, sensors and computers projected simulated images on computer screens in a cockpit in the center of the plane from where they flew the aircraft (including take-off and landing). Imagine using VRD for this application. One step further would be to place those sensors onto an RPV and have someone fly the aircraft from a simulator thousands of miles away. What a way to drop bombs! Anyone know if MVIS has any contracts with NASA or the AF experimenting in this arena?
