I just wrote an ETrade check for $6K to DLJdirect to transfer a portion of my cash. In my DLJ account in two business days.
I'm sure that's much faster than ETrade could handle a transfer.

I thought DLJdirect might find it funny...
And if ETrade sees the check (I doubt they do) they might not.

I've heard a rumor somewhere that ETrade charges $20 or $40 to "close" an account. So I figure I'll just keep writting checks as I close out positions.

For positions I want to keep open, DLJ will transfer them for me.
Though I haven't really researched that.

Maybe someone with more experience can shed light on that?
And the $20 fee to "close" an account?
