You got it.

That's EXACTLY why, when a small, unknown Nasdaq SC or NM stock (unexpectedly) gets hot, weird things happen. But, thats why they have "reserve" features on certain ECN's, and why EWN (formerly NWII) terminals have "auto-refresh" and "auto-increment" features.

My experience is that as a general rule one trader can juggle about 5 stocks max. It's actually something to see, it's pretty amazing to see one person trading 5 stocks at the same time. If the stock is hot, it's hard to trade two. There is no room for error; it's hit the street if you make a big mistake.

Disclaimer: this is from my personal experience, there may be exceptions where one trader actually is working more than 5 stocks at the same time.
