That's my home town whereof you speak!! I went to many a Ring Figure, was snuck into dorms, transported cadets out after curfew and brought many a starving young soldier home from the Cadet Choir at the Catholic Church where I was the organist. Can you imagine a better religious calling than this? 16 years old, and playing the organ for a cadet choir. My mother must have been in heaven. My father adored these boys. My parents adopted them, fed them and let them watch TV all afternoon and I'm not sure I really had anything to do with it. It's one reason I refused to get a driver's license. I didn't want to have to pick them up for my parents. Gosh- but those days have such a glow around them though.
