To me, the issues this discussion has raised and brought into high relief are of profound importance to a democracy, and "an old man who was once president" is only a symptom, or harbinger, of them. You illustrated best the surreal polity to come. In your own words: I admire the man greatly as a leader of this country. Regardless of any personal short-coming, he was able to look into a camera and make Americans feel safe, confident, proud, optimistic -- a hell of a gift.
