I can't answer that, Steve, they are non-linear waves, and what I've learned about solitons and the mathematics thereof tells me that soliton based phenomena probably exist associated with dang near everything, from waterwaves to lightwaves to electrons in molecules of plastic to magnets to Josephson Junctions to traffic jams to Amplitude modulations to Thermal conductivity of the Spin-Peierls compound CuGeO3 having to do with superconductivity reasearch where the
spin-Peierls phase changes into an incommensurate soliton
phase to art to psychology to what happens when you pour out grains of Salt- I've seen reference to all...so my guess would be a qualified yes...whether they can be controlled or not is probably another question...depending on what were talking about(and I haven't a clue what you are asking about, really), but by god, if there is no soliton phenomenon running amok in twisted pair copper wire, I'd probably eat my hat- just don't know what it would look like or if it would be usefull. Hopefully NVXE would explain. It's way late/early...need sleep...delerious...goodnight...nothing matter with me matter with me matter with me
