And more news...... FEPET Presents Results At 46th Annual International Symposium of the American Vacuum Society AUSTIN, Texas, Nov 30, 1999 Carbon Film Samples From FEPET Show One Million Emission Sites Per Centimeter Square SI Diamond Technology Inc. (OTC BB:SIDT) Tuesday announced that researchers from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), Berkeley, Calif., presented investigation results of carbon film samples provided by Field Emission Picture Element Technology Inc.(FEPET) a subsidiary of SI Diamond Technology Inc., at the 46th annual International Symposium of the American Vacuum Society that took place in Seattle in October 1999. FEPET has achieved carbon film samples showing one million emission sites per centimeter square. The results, presented as "Field emission from Flat Diamond-like Carbon Films Characterized by Scanning Force Microscopy," demonstrate that electron emitting carbon films grown by hot filament CVD techniques are very flat, with a roughness of 20 nanometers(=0.02 microns). This confirms FEPET's claim of a flat emitting cathode with no geometrically enhanced features at the surface, such as microtips. Furthermore, Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) measurements at fields of approximately 50 volts per micrometer showed emission site densities to be on the order of 1 million emission sites per centimeter square. These recent results significantly enhance the understanding of the nature of these films and give new directions for further investigation and improvement. FEPET gratefully acknowledges the assistance of the Office of Energy Research, U.S. Deptartment of Energy, under CRADA contract DE-AC03-76SF00098 for supporting this work. "The result of the investigation of our carbon film technology by the reputable Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is significant in that it elevates our carbon film technology from laboratory status to an industrial process," said Dr. Zvi Yaniv, president and chief operating officer of FEPET. "The generation of one million sites per centimeter square was one of our primary goals for 1999. I congratulate Dr. Yaniv and his team for accomplishing this milestone," said Marc Eller, CEO of SI Diamond Technology Inc. "These results significantly expand the applications for our technology, which will greatly enhance our future in the licensing of the technology for up-front fees and royalties," continued Eller. ------- Anyone have any thoughts on this?
