i more or less agree with your sentiment on the matter...no-one will want to take responsibility for bursting the bubble, least of all the Fed which made it possible in the first place. the only argument in favor of a negative surprise aside from the obvious ones is that the Fed may want to reconsider it's policy of informing the markets of it's moves ahead of time, since that has only helped to give the mania even more staying power. anyway, there's no point in engaging in the guessing game since we'll know what's what in a few hours time anyway.
