I think of splits this way ...

ALL my stock is taken away and replaced with NEW shares. These new shares are only worth half as much as the old shares, but I get twice as many.

I then re-price my cost for ALL these NEW shares.

Does this help? PW.

Tef, You hit the nail on the head when they first tightened rates this year with your "neutral bias" prediction, what do you think of this tightening bias? Why do they raise rates during a neutral bias period and then hold them as they proclaim a new bias? It's kind of like pulling your punches, isn't it? It's like Greenspan wants desperately to rein in the stock markets without being blamed for a major correction. Always a little good with the bad. A spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down.
