Gerald,

"Athlon" may be totally contrived, but it's easy to say and there's no confusion on the pronunciation. I give
"Itanium" a "C" at best and it more likely deserves a "D".


Athlon, to me, sounds like what a person of few words, with a lithp, would say if you asked him what part of his body goes where goes when he sits on grass.

I agree about the "looks funny in print".

However, this could be EASILY SOLVED by spelling it "ITanium" where the capitals IT have their roots in the acronym "IT" for Information Technology - the target market for the "ITanium".
