Digital Microwave Corporation Introduces 38 GHz Altium

Most Spectrally Efficient SDH/SONET 38 GHz Radio on the Market

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Microwave
Corporation (Nasdaq: DMIC - news), today announced that the
38 GHz model of its Altium(TM) broadband radio will be
available for shipment during early calendar 2000. The 38 GHz
Altium is the world's first radio in this frequency band
capable of transmitting 155 Mbps SDH/SONET capacities using
only 28 MHz of spectrum, making it uniquely efficient in use
of frequency spectrum. The addition of 38 GHz, which is used
worldwide both for broadband access and mobile telephony
base station interconnection applications, completes the
product line's coverage of multiple frequencies ranging from
6 to 38 GHz.

Digital Microwave Corporation uses 128 QAM modulation to
achieve the high spectral efficiency of the Altium radio.
This innovation permits operators using 38 GHz to use very
high capacity radios while conserving valuable radio spectrum.

``Digital Microwave has combined microwave and millimeter
wave technology with high spectral efficiency to achieve a
world-leading broadband product. We are immensely proud of
this extensive product line, its innovation, and the value
it brings to our customers,' commented Charles Kissner,
Digital Microwave's Chairman and CEO.

Digital Microwave Corporation is currently shipping Altium
radios in the 6, 7, 8, 11, 15, 18, 23, and 26, GHz bands,
with 13, 28 and 31 GHz scheduled to begin shipments during
the current quarter.

Along with Digital Microwave Corporation's DXR, XP4, and
DART families of radios, the Altium radios will be displayed
and demonstrated in Digital Microwave stand Number 1130.048
in the USA Pavilion at Telecom 99 in Geneva, Switzerland,
October 10-17.

Headquartered in San Jose, California, Digital Microwave
Corporation provides microwave radio solutions to connect,
enable and grow communications networks worldwide. The
Company's industry-leading broadband, medium-capacity and
low-capacity radios transport data, voice, and video for
public and private networks in a wide range of global
environments. Digital Microwave Corporation brings value to
a diverse range of customers through its vast array of
