Sprint chairman says expects sale of Global One

NEW YORK, Oct 5 (Reuters) - Sprint Corp. (NYSE:FON - news) Chairman and
Chief Executive William Esrey said on Tuesday that he expected one of the joint owners
of Global One to buy the company, an international telecommunications firm that has so
far been a money-loser.

``I believe that probably the outcome will be one of three parents will buy Global One,' Esrey said at a news conference
announcing the $115 billion Sprint-MCI WorldCom (NasdaqNM:WCOM - news) deal, ``It won't keep going in the
mode it's in right now.'

Esrey said he estimated the sale of Global One, co-owned by Sprint, Deutsche Telekom AG and France Telecom , to
take place in the next ``couple of months.'

``I would hope a resolution could occur very quickly to provide certainty into the marketplace and for the employees of
Global One,' Esrey said.
