Actually a merger is not such a far fetched idea is it? Given the play is to own "the silicon content" in the settop market, add up both BRCM's and CUBE's market share and you have a compelling business case for a merger.

Current market caps:

BRCM ~12.18 billion
CUBE ~1.72 billion
