Maybe, maybe not. Intel has shown the ability to produce huge on die L2. I wouldn't be surpised if 256K is only the start. AMD on the other hand would need an L2 at least 4x the current 128K L1 to do them any good, 512K. The poor showing of the K63 (availability wise) suggests AMD is not good at large on die caches. All subject to change of course.
