RE: Kemble: Check out Today's Wall Street Journal. On page A16 there is an article on how "China's internet Draws $1 Billion U.S. Bet." The IDC Group Chairman (Patrick McGovern) forecasts the online population in China to reach an optimistic 100 million by 2005. Hmmm....Who is going to sell China all those PCs, servers and storage devices to fascilitate this..?? I think MSD and Mort know what they are doing by making a BIG bet on China in the years to come. DELL will become a dominant player in this major market in the Pacific Rim. IMO, many of the analysts have underestimated what kind of business China may provide leading US tech firms like DELL <VBG>...

Made my largest purchase of DELL three years ago this month...Why? Read an article in IBD describing what plans DELL had for CHINA....My excitement runs from what I believe that direct model can do with the Chinese culture...The fact that Mort told us last August (Reuters 8/98) that "DELL expects CHINA to become the #2 market within five years." Couple this with Michael's recent statements of DELL being ahead of schedule...Well, Scott it doesn't take much intelligence to figure out the model is working...Being direct in CHINA was a featured article in Fortune this summer...The article alluded to DELL's ability to adapt anywhere they went..."THEY TOLD US IT WOULDN'T WORK IN THE USA"... :O)
BUY DELL because of CHINA...someone will figure this out shortly..and Michael just told us the numbers are starting to prove it...

Best, Kemble
