Yousef - Re: "I know that AMD was "shipping" a $20 with each K6-2, but $100 seems like too much. I wonder if the "Gateway thingy" had anything to do with this ... Hmmmmmmmmm ??!!"

Sure did.

As it did with AMD engineers spending their Saturdays and Sundays hanging out at Fry's explaining how to put together AthFLOP systems to the DIY crowd that can't afford a real computer !

Re:Re: "You forgot to mention the $100 REBATE that AMD is giving BACK to ATHLON Customers !"

What's the difference between a direct rebate to the customer and the millions of "Intel Inside" advertising $$$$$ that go to the manufacture? Either way somebody is getting money back to use a particular CPU.

Let's not even mention that every hardware and software manufacture out there uses some type of rebate for a product they want to sell. Just go to your local computer super store and look at the rack by the cash register loaded with coupons.

BTW did you cover your shorts yet, or are you still waiting for $13.00
