Bill, So far that is true. If CSCO, NT or LU were to deliver competition, things could get ugly for JNPR. Brian

Dow Jones Newswires -- October 5, 1999
DJ A.G. Edwards Mkt Strategist: Oversold Rally Kicking In

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Monday's rally was a reaction to an oversold market, said Al Goldman, chief market strategist at A.G. Edwards Inc.

"We've been in a very serious correction for the last five months," said Goldman in an interview on CNBC-TV Tuesday. "In August and September, the market developed a deep oversold condition."

"If the market has bottomed out, our sentiment indicators are flashing strong buy signals," he added. "We were a buyer and believe the primary trend has been reinstated."

Goldman said the market is selling at fair value now and going higher.

"The risk-reward ratio, in our opinion, is very strong on the reward side," he said.

Investors should look for well-run companies with good earning prospects, said Goldman. His picks include technology companies Applied Materials Inc. (AMAT) and Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO), pharmaceutical companies Pfizer Inc. (PFE) and Elan Corp. PLC (ELN); retail companies Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) and Gap Inc. (GPS); and finance companies Fannie Mae (FNM) and Freddie Mac (FRE).
