V, It will all be noise in the long run. Let's face it, even a 1000 point drop won't show up on a chart in a decade. It is the feeling I get that it is an attempt to control and manipulate and an obvious one. When this sort of bs backfires it is a big deal. They should have left it alone and raised next year until they were satisfied, after Asia was healthier, y2k was over, blah, blah. An unneeded surgical intervention instead of allowing the patient to respond to the current steps taken.
