Oil was shorted heavily today but covered well at the end. Traders are sceptical of API #'s....another draw down in crude should give the osx a nice boost in the a.m.

Big Cap E&P's (APA, APC, BR)... APC has sold off the most short term. Compared to these three it had the highest volume today (% over normal) - a sign of a bottom? It's the closest of the three to it's Jan 1999 levels. I would think APC would look the best short term. If anyone disagrees please state why...

Today's volume in 1000 followed by normal

APC 171 vs 68
BR 131 vs 122
APA 78 vs 80

My choices would be APC, BR followed by APA for short term appreciation from their current levels. APC 27, BR 35, APA 39.

Lots of late day buying for APC and BR.

Slider:

Sold most of my gold funds this morning and began buying FSESX. Gold has come too far too fast and the stocks are grossly underperforming the commodity. But OSX has gone down too far too fast and looks as attractive to me as it does to you down here.

Of course when OSX soars and gold comes down, I probably will switch gears again.
