I agree for any non real time event, but they are touting that you have "instant connectivity" all the time. If it were for real time stock quotes, even if this were just 2 or 3 packets, and it got blocked for 2 hours, I would be real pissed if I missed a 20 point jump in a stock that day.

The need for way off load non real time data is so very small. Why do this wireless if I can just do it when I get around to it? the need for wireless data is really one of timeliness, not timelessness. Wireless is ok for things which are non-real time, but the actual meaning of this is that within the period of human attention span (10-120 seconds) it must be delivered. Anything beyond that and you forget why you wanted to do it right then anyway. I cannot wait for 2 hours to get the phone number of the airlines reservations, I cannot wait for 2 hours to get a flight confirmation. I can wait until the end of the day to get email, but then I would rather do this on my laptop using a higher speed link and a better keyboard if it were not real time.

I respect that the AT&T guys may be trying here, but I think the marketing guys are actually running the show, not the technical guys.
