Jacq, I think the 6 to 8% efficiency you suggest for amorphous-thin-film PV cells must be for older versions.

In the 1999 Shareholder's brochure, a 12% efficiency claim for the space versions is reiterated. And, the claim of 13%, stabilized, for 1997 vintage "small area device" is also reiterated. Further, I recall a company claim -- backed, I think by NASA test data -- of 10% for large area arrays of cells.

ECD's UNI-SOLAR Roofing panels have been shown to be rugged in actual use -- for example, functioning well in Yuma where the array temperature "approaches 167 degrees F" (also from the 1999 brochure).
