Wi-LAN Inc WIN
Shares issued 20,648,955 Oct 6 close $10.30
Thu 7 Oct 99 News Release
Ms. Heather Oake reports
The company will supply Wi-LAN wireless local loop products to a national
high-speed wireless network in Sweden and several other European countries
with Telia GlobalCast Internetworking AB, a provider of wireless data
communication services in Sweden, and a subsidiary of Telia AB, a leading
supplier of telecom-based information services in the Nordic/Baltic region.
Telia GlobalCast Internetworking AB is using Wi-LAN's Hopper Plus wireless
bridges and W-OFDM products to offer high-speed wireless Internet access
and intranet services to small and medium-sized businesses and small
office/home office workers throughout Sweden in 1999. Similar rollouts will
follow in Scandinavia, the Baltics and other select countries.
The restructured agreement has appointed Telia GlobalCast Internetworking
as an exclusive distributor and as an authorized reseller of Wi-LAN's
wireless communication products in unlicensed frequency bands in
Scandinavia, the Baltics and other select countries. Telia ordered over
$1-million (U.S.) of Wi-LAN product by the third quarter of 1999. Under
this new three-year term, Telia GlobalCast Internetworking has agreed to
purchase $1.6-million (U.S.) worth of Wi-LAN product for the remainder of
1999, $10.8-million (U.S.) worth of Wi-LAN product in 2000, and
acknowledged that it intends to purchase $24-million (U.S.) worth of Wi-LAN
product in 2001.
"We have restructured the agreement with Telia GlobalCast internetworking
to firm up the commitment levels for the first two years," says Bill Hews,
president and chief operating officer, Wi-LAN. "We are well positioned with
Telia to supply their communications infrastructure according to their
phased rollout and to create a stream of shipped product and revenue for
Wi-LAN worth more than $9.3-million (U.S.) in our fiscal 2000 year with
this contract alone."

I know that you were talking about Telia in the previous posts. I could not share the information with you then. We have just resigned with Telia and they have solidified their commitment to purchase what they intended to purchase in the initial agreement:
