Two new models were announced in Japan for the Japanese domestic market and seven new models were announced for the U.S. market. The models for the U.S. include four new VAIO 505 super slim notebooks: VAIO Z505RX, VAIO Z505R, VAIO N505VX, and VAIO N505VE; and three new VAIO F300 series notebooks, with digital video and photo editing capabilities. VAIO 505 Super Slim Notebooks The Sony VAIO Z505RX and VAIO Z505R models are equipped with brilliant XGA active matrix displays for viewing presentations, graphics, and video images. Both models carry powerful Intel Pentium II processors, 400MHz and 366MHz, respectively, and come with bundled multimedia software for transforming video clips into panoramic still images and for playback of animated image files such as movie clips. The original 505 series that garnered a Mobility Award in the "Ultralight Category" from Mobile Insights in February 1999 also incorporated NeoMagic accelerators. The Sony VAIO N505VX and N505VE super slim models are designed to offer increased graphics and multimedia capabilities to value conscious consumers who want the sleek 3.5 pound profile, enabled by the embedded memory technology of the MagicMedia256AV. These models are also delivered with bundled software that allows users to edit and create full-motion video, still photography; web-designs with "virtual" photo albums, and video email.
