rel4490,

True, they received other assets, but most selling I believe is based on the premise that GMST overpaid for the remaining assets. They have essentially given away 1/2 the company to TV Guide stockholders.

The TV Guide shareholders (88%) are Liberty Media and News Corp. LindyBill may have spoken to this already when commenting on Rupert Murdoch. This goes beyond US cable representing 10% of the global market.

Gemstar likewise gave away 45% of its business when acquiring Starsight 3 years ago. Shareholders were angry with that outrageous sum. Today it looks like pennies. Hindsight puts matters into perspective. What will we say 3 years from now?

Regards
Stew
