if sun.com goes down tomorrow ,the p/e will go down. i am not interested in day to day fluctualtions nor should you. sun.com would have to go down 50% for its p/e to be "normal." this is not a day to day metric.

what could happen to both stocks is earnings continue higher and the stock either declines or treads water, due to interest rates going up, or two, investors become less optimistic about the future. that would cause the p/e ratio to collapse.
