When the Q860 doesn't seem to be working ok, then press "i" key, along wiht the power key along wiht the "send" key, all at the same time. this resets the phone without having to run the internal battery down.

Suggest you call Airtouch and get it replaced.

On the PN codes, dual mode and digital are not all that different. analog mode is totally independent from digital mode. No PNs to be sent, so it doesn;t matter. both the dual mode phone and the digital only phone have CDMA in common and work exactly the same way. The pilot tone is a fixed and known PN sequence which the phone tunes to and sets up timing. then the phone realigns it's timing to the pilot. Once there, it then tunes to the paging channel which tells the phone the rest of the system information. Once the phone has this, it then registers with the system using the access channel. Upon getting registered, it is issued a PN sequence which then sets up its paging channel messages. From then on, the call in progress will tell the phone which PN sequence to use for an incoming call. Kind of like "call coming in on channel 8, please use code 123456768".
