That is the general reason why companies split their stock. The individual investor would be just as well served by buying 50 shares instead of 100. If a stock moves up 20 percent, it does not matter whether the holder owns 50 shares at 100 or 100 shares at 50, his original investment still was up 20%. I do understand that round lots look better though!
