FROM : ragingbull.com and Shell Canada Ltd - Globe says Shell poised to give go-ahead on Muskeg River project Shell Canada Ltd SHC Shares issued 289,410,425 1999-10-06 close $31 Thursday Oct 7 1999 The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday edition that Shell Canada Ltd., whose coffers will soon swell from its $770-million oil asset sale announced this week, is expected to approve its $3.8-billion oil sands joint venture in Northern Alberta in December. Shell said the company directors will determine the fate of the proposed Muskeg River project after they review a feasibility study that is close to completion. Industry analysts say the $770-million sale to Houston-based Apache Corp. shows that Shell is poised to forge ahead in the oil sands. The project near Fort McMurray, Alta., would be developed by Shell and two partners that joined the Muskeg River venture in August Chevron Canada Resources Ltd. and Western Oil Sands Inc., both of Calgary. Shell has a 60-per-cent interest, while Chevron and Western Oil Sands each hold a 20-per-cent stake in the project, which is scheduled to start construction early next year and pump oil in late 2002. One analyst says Shell has positioned itself to give the green light to Muskeg River after Apache closes its deal with Shell on Nov. 30. canada-stockwatch.com Chuckadisconnected?
