Company Press Release
Cell Robotics Initiates Pilot Production of the Personal Lasette
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--(BW HealthWire)--Oct. 7, 1999--Cell Robotics International Inc. (OTC BB: CRII - news) Thursday announced that it has initiated pilot production of the Personal Lasette©, a laser finger perforator to draw blood for glucose testing in a nearly painless manner.

The first units will be shown today at the RCG Growth Stock Conference at the Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz. Several of these units will be shipped to Chronimed Inc. (Nasdaq: CHMD - news) for final analysis in preparation of the product launch. The Personal Lasette is designed for home-use by diabetics to draw their blood for testing their glucose levels.

The rechargeable battery powered Personal Lasette is about the size of a cell phone, weights only 8 ounces and comes with a disposable film cartridge that automatically advances for 120 shots. The industrial design of the Personal Lasette may be seen at cellrobotics.com.

Cell Robotics' Lasette technology and design has won both the Phontonics Spectra's ``Circle of Excellence Award' for one of the 25 most technically innovative laser products of the year and the prestigious R&D Magazine's ``R&D 100 Award' as one of the 100 most innovative technical developments for the year.

It is also the only technology other than steel lancets or needles cleared by the FDA to draw blood for glucose testing and is the only medical laser cleared for home-use for any application. In the United States alone at least 4.7 million people are required to test their glucose levels multiple times every day.

Cell Robotics International Inc. also manufactures, markets, and sells the In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Workstation (used in Laser Assisted Hatching and Zona Laser Treatment), and the Cell Robotics Workstation, a research instrument that incorporates the LaserTweezers© and LaserScissors(TM) for manipulating and cutting cells and chromosomes.
