RE <<<How soon they forget! AMD started the price war by undercutting Intel's prices. AMD continued the price war by maintaining a policy of keeping their prices below Intel's, even if Intel lowered their prices. This is true crybaby whining when someone fights back in a war you started.>>>

With economic and political power, comes a certain responsibility. If the US or Japan or any of the major powers behaved like a few of the third world countries, this world would have been blown up a long time ago. Having AMD around has made intc a better company....to whit, the last few months.

This is not whining....all that I am suggesting that intc come from a place of plenty rather than scarcity. Everyone (including intc) will be better served. If intc does not, I believe it will pay a price ultimately because this kind of behavior is destructive. And to suggest that AMD is behaving the same way is being intentionally naive.....AMD is in a bid for survival while intc is trying to eliminate competition and pig out at the trough.....significant difference. That's why the results will be significantly different for each company.

Elmer, how many times do we need to make it clear to you that the performance of the K6 demanded that it have a lower price than the PII? Toyota is not undercutting BMW when it prices a Camry under a 328ci.

It's really not very hard to understand. If you don't have the branding or the performance, you sell at a discount. That's not even marketing 101--it's common sense.
