After some initial problems, which I believe were cable co. infrastructure issues, I haven't had a problem for at least the last 6 weeks. Don't know if that's helpful.

I2,

I've had my cable modem for over a year and it's the best thing since sliced bread. It has been completely reliable for me (max. 3/4 days down over a year) and the speeds are crazy. :P

Comcast@Home is my cable co. and costs are $100 for the initial setup fee and $40 per month. The setup fee pays for a computer tech who installs a Ethernet card in your PeeCee and a cable tech who runs the new coax to the cable modem. FYI, the cable modem is external (bout the size of a small cereal box) and connects to an Ethernet output on the back of your PeeCee.

FWIW, before you sign-up, you may want to find a display setup by your cable co. to see what you think of it.

PS - If you have any more questions feel free to PM me.

Good Luck,
Nick

IV2, I got my cable modem about 6 months ago. Its light years ahead of my old 56kb modem and ISP. It was about $130 to install and cost $44 a month. The install includes a network card and any cable connections you need. I was paying about $40 a month for a separate phone line and the ISP, so the monthly charge is almost a wash and the performance is far superior. We have Time Warner as the cable provider. The guy put a splitter in so I have TV next to the computer.
Bottom line I'm extremely happy with it.
