Are they in a quiet period for some reason?

Has any body played the earnings game with this stock? How much does it typically go up prior to quarterly earnings? LU has an all time high of 79. so it can go up by another 15 points or so just to catch up to the previous high. Does it usually go up to previous high prior to earnings? I have a long term holding in LU. But I am also trying to trade a small quantity.

Anobody knowledgeable about this stock, please help.

Thanks.

- SAM

Gary, Both were upbeat. Both said that y2k was a non-event.

One bone of contention in the LU call was a statement that the 4th quarter revenue and earnings were going to be less of an overall % of the year's total than in the past but that total revenue would grow 19-20% year over year.

EPS would grow 35% year over year. For the year he was advising analysts to increase estimates by several cents over the then 1.47 average estimate. The decrease in 4th quarter EPS is to be more than made up for in the other 3 quarters, supposedly. This was of course construed as a y2k issue, which it was clearly stated not to be.

Now we have analysts with $55 dollar price targets and $100 price targets. I will be happy with the average.

Brian

No way, the general tone of the CC was lukewarm and the analysts did not like the cautious outlook due to Y2K and revenue smoothing (which was actually to pacify their usual complaint of lumpy revenue).
Why argue, you can see the result from then on till today inspite of heavy contract announcements.
I am giving LU till this CC before I consider pulling out. I have seen it happen too often with other tech companies where denial of facts leads to underperformance.
