I think there's a good deal of short selling, for a couple of reasons. First, if I remember correctly, ASCOM filed to sell about half a million shares of their five million (last time we saw a filing), and about 200K shares have probably already been sold. Given the million plus shares traded today, ASCOM couldn't be accounting for all that selling. Second, it's very predictable given the lack of underlying good news like a major PC OEM, that this is a spike. Traders can understand that, and so we are probably seeing an increase in the short position in IDX. I'm just enjoying the fact that Bill W. was so dumb that he shorted on yesterday's preannouncement and not today's CNBC interview.

Yesterday's Selling...

I don't think the insiders can sell until after the earnings are released.
