Vixel looks appetizing....

Comments From Industry Leaders About Vixel

Vixel Announces Java Edition of SAN InSite Management Software and Vixel 2100
Zoning Managed Hub
September 14, 1999

"Today's storage environment requires proactive management software to ensure that the
enterprise gets the most out of its SAN, such as safeguarding mission-critical applications,"
said David Hill, senior analyst, Aberdeen Group. "With SAN InSite, a comprehensive
software platform that manages all elements of the interconnect, Vixel gives IT managers
more value from their SANs."

"Vixel's new 2100 Managed Hub with its InSite device management software provides
advanced loop stability with dynamic configuration and zoning-key attributes needed for
SAN today," said Michael LaTorraca, vice president, Computer Associates Development
Partner Program. "Vixel continues to play a key role in CA's SANITI initiative and brings
true business value to our mutual customers by integrating Vixel's devices with CA's
storage and enterprise management solutions."

According to George Symons, vice president, product management for Legato Systems,
Inc., "Adapting to service level requirements within a SAN environment is a critical
success factor for today's enterprise corporation. Vixel's SAN InSite 2.2 can be used in
conjunction with the Legato continuum of products and services to help IT managers
consistently deliver on demanding service level commitments across enterprise
technologies and geographical boundaries."

"Tivoli Storage Management Software extends the value of Vixel SAN device
management software by providing a business an application extension to all Vixel
switching technologies," comments George Mele, director of marketing for Tivoli Storage
Management Solutions. "As a member of the Tivoli Partner Program, Tivoli and Vixel
are committed to delivering integrated solutions for today's critical networked applications
that drive traditional and e-business."

"A key component of successful SAN solutions are management tools designed to simplify
and expedite proactive network management to ensure business without interruption,"
said Jan Jentz, director of strategic business alliances, VERITAS Software. "Tools such as
Vixel's SAN InSite, which optimize open SAN environments to maximize uptime, help to
deliver a robust solution for network managers. VERITAS Software is committed to
supporting our fibre channel partners that deliver advanced SAN management tools."

"This exciting new product is another example of Vixel's leadership in the SAN industry.
Bell Microproduct's strategic relationship with Vixel as one of our primary SAN vendors has
fueled our value added resellers and integrators sales within this market," said Phil
Roussey, senior vice president computer products marketing, Bell Microproducts. "The
combination of Bell Microproduct's distribution strength and Vixel's broad product offering,
has clearly made our storage area network resellers winners!"

"Vixel continues its strong leadership in facilitating customers' migration to Fibre Channel
solutions," said Michael Gluck, President and COO of Chaparral Network Storage, Inc.
"In addition to the high performance attributes, the new zoning managed hub offers
several benefits of switching hubs such as zoning and LIP isolation, providing network
managers an affordable entry to SANs and the scalability to expand existing networks."

"SAN installations are increasingly realizing the benefits of Fibre Channel (FC) for local or
remote backup and mirroring. For these installations, having FC options such as zoning
with LIP isolation, at a given price point, will be an important factor driving the market,"
said James Opfer, senior analyst, GartnerGroup/Dataquest.

"The 2100 Zoning Managed Hub is another cutting edge product from Vixel," said Mark
Koziol, executive vice president at Hammer Storage Solutions. "The ability to isolate
LIPs and provide zoned performance at less than half the cost of a switch provides the
opportunity to many of our entry level customers like small post production studios,
pre-press facilities, or universities to take advantage of the benefits of a SAN."

"End users need to start gaining experience with Fibre Channel-based storage now. They
benefit from a step-by-step path to full Storage Area Network (SAN) functionality," said
Robert Gray, senior research director, IDC. "Products like Vixel's 2100 Zoning Managed
Hub provide important steps in features and scalability over simple loop configurations
without the complexity of full fabric Fibre Channel."

"With the introduction of Vixel's 2100 Zoning Managed Hub, Mercury Computer Systems'
SANergy customers have gained access to a new, cost-effective fibre channel hub," said
Jim Dulski, enterprise marketing manager, Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. "Vixel's 2100
zoning capabilities provide LIP isolation, scalability and performance that make it
attractive for our partners in e-commerce, ISPs, digital video, post-production and
pre-press."

"The Vixel 2100 is an excellent advance in Fibre Channel Hub technology. Many of our
customers have been asking for the features now provided by the 2100, features such as
web-based management, LIP isolation and advanced on-the-fly zoning," said Noel May,
CEO, Raidtec Corporation. "The 2100 from Vixel we believe will substantially widen the
market for Fibre Channel managed hub's."

"With its new managed hub-on-a-chip architecture, Vixel is dramatically lowering the cost
of entry for high-availability SANs," said Thomas Isakovich of TrueSAN Networks. "As a
Vixel strategic partner, TrueSAN is excited to offer its customers a robust, scalable, and
centrally manageable foundation for building enterprise storage networks."

etys - people expect it to be the 'amazon' of toys but at $9 billion market cap i think the holiday eggnog may have been broken out too soon

revenue for 2q ending june were $8 million on loss of $20.8 million.

overall, though and eggnog aside etoys in my view may have the chance to own a kids experience on the web

$9 billion market cap still seems frothy however and largely driven lately by the holiday expectation

now traditionally about 40% of a etailer's sales occur during the holidays so that's also moving the stock

challengers including toys 'r us and others simply haven't reached the level of etoys and may never at this pace.
