Are you still getting your research from the Motley Fool?

HJ, what do you have against TMF? Is there something in their central theme that you disagree with? I've never seen any of their for-fee research, but their free content is not really presented as research. When they cover an issue, an industry, or a company, they do a better job of 99% of SI'ers at giving a do-it-yourself investor some things to think about. Sometimes their insight is unique, sometimes not, sometimes silly. Maybe it is true that for people looking to own stocks for five or more years, there are better services available online. But they are not as accessible, and they are not free.

Anything TMF publishes is by definition to be considered in the context of all of your other knowledge. Their premise is that with some care and effort, individuals can choose long-term winners. They frequently remind their readers they should be responsible for their own investments, and not rely on others to tell them what to do (including the Fool itself). They teach you to keep tabs on your companies. and to *consider* (without fear of any loss) to sell losers. These ideas provide a great foundation for long term investing IMO. I don't understand why you think they're a joke.
