Tale of two cities

"....I had been in India less than three months and walked up to this handsome couple who were among the invited guests. I asked him what he did for a living (typical Washington, D.C., question). He told me he was Amitabh Bachchan. I said, "That's very nice and what do you do Mr Bachchan?" Then, of course, I had the same conversation with his wife! Then there was the time in Delhi when I mistook a high-level Congress member for one of our regulars at Roosevelt House and greeted him with a big kiss in front of a host of ministers. Oh well, live and learn...."
