I would have done it- but as I love to insult people myself I can't really attack other people for it. As you know I detest hypocrites and I know you wouldn't want me to be one. But FWIW I think it was wrong of that person to insult you when you did not insult them- you merely insulted their figurehead- but I think they had so internalized this figurehead that maybe they had a hard time differentiating self from not- self. They should have stuck to insulting memememe, since I was enjoying it. But let's face it, discrimination requires intelligence.

I've rather had it with getting involved in such things. But the occasional poster is not so disheartening as how some of your "friends" are speaking to you because of the opinion you've expressed. It all makes me feel a little ill and things are close to a breaking point. Anyone able and interested in hearing what you've said already has. Others will only get more intransient and nasty, it seems. Gotta go after one more post.

E, I personally have not been following this "discussion" about Reagan, so I did not even notice you had been insulted in the course of it. Generally, I have learned to pull the pillow over my head when certain "political" subjects come up, because I know that the discussion will inevitably end (or even begin) with insults or slurs of some sort or another. On SI, at least, people take politics even more personally than religion. Seems odd to me, and most unfortunate ... but that's the way it is. (Sorry you had to learn the hard way.) Joan
