50dma test- Trade below or close below? I thought most waited for a confirmation as a close below the 50 twice before initiating a short position.

Larry, every so often I do get whipsawed, but the turnips somewhat less restrictive bands than Hal's, let me stay in moves (trends) a little longer most of the time, I believe.

opening indication is 71-74, did AMD break wind in church last nite?

edit @ 9:46: oops, that's a nasty gap! the trade of 74 1/8 has already been re-posted as an error.

Time to re-iterate my usual week-before-expiration play: a drop of 10% or more in four days or less during the week before expiration happens more than half the time. In nine out of the last eleven times this has happened, it gains the ten percent back within four days of bottoming.

79 15/16 to 71 1/4 is almost exactly ten percent. Don't know if this is the bottom yet, though -- a bottom on Monday is more common than a bottom on Thursday. A glance at the 50-SMA will be my guide.
