Hello ToySoldier,

Oops ... wrong again ... I have two relatives where I have had @Home installed ... and yes, I read their policies ...

I'll believe the FTP server any day ... that one is common sense. It is simple to analye the access patterns and heavy usage patterns. After that, a simple protocol analyzer can identify incoming TCP connection requests. You simply look for the inbound TCP SYN packets and the responses ... done. You are then identified as a server.

Now as for the detection of NAT, I failed to read in your message the proof that you are providing that they actually *know* this. There are ways that they could *assume* this due to outbound port usage patterns, but that could be easily masked. I would argue that you are trying to "prove" something due to a threatening letter ... please provide more than that ...

Yep ... servers are definitely against the policies ... unless you know how to talk with them nicely ... ;-)

Ah, but they are! But they do not currently implement, in many areas, the cable modems capable of throttling connections. Remember, this is new technology ... as we discussed ...
