First let me make clear about D. Peck....he made his predatory statement re intc to Business Week....a very strong one, I might add; certainly not an accidental slip of tongue....but not more than two weeks later, reversed himself. Consequently I am not surprised that he said one thing to the media today and another in the CC. My point is that he does not hold much creditability with me.

As for the burn rate, I have not done the numbers but I did note the drop in cash so that I suspect you are right. However, sanders said that going forward that most expenses would either go down or be flat in Q4.....and he hinted at a possible breakeven in Q4; the operative word is hinted. And it did not sound at all like sanders former bravado. In fact, like I said in another post, I found his demeanor very circumspect which to me indicates someone in control and executing well. As for being a one trick pony...yes, AMD is that but so is Dell. Both have to get bigger before they can truly diversify.

Do I think AMD is out of the woods? NO! Is AMD's success still in limbo? YES! However I believe they have made significant and impressive progress this quarter in the face of huge odds.

And I think in recognition, the stock will ROCK tomorrow!!

Greg, Re: <Their cash burn rate is $1.2M per day. This means the operation Sanders is proposing selling at $80M is worth 68 days of cash to amd at historical cash burn rates. (Assuming they have a buyer at $80M)

Which division is being proposed by Sanders to sell at $80M? Are you referring to the Communications group which has annual revenues of about $300M ($70M in Q3'99)? Note that, Communications group is profitable, and has a couple of hot products (possibility of future growth).
